Exploring Sennelier Oil Sticks, this portrait delves into connection, silence, and the space between emotions.

I’m still figuring this one out. Something about closeness, but also not being fully seen.

Notes from the Studio – The Space Between Us #05

This one felt like a turning point. I brought in Sennelier Oil Sticks for the first time - wanted to see what happened when I let the material lead. The marks got looser, more instinctive.

I’ve been craving more freedom in the work, less refinement, more energy. The palette knife helped with that - smearing colour, dragging tones across the surface. It felt physical, immediate. Like I was pushing the feeling straight into the piece.

I’m dialling up the colour too - leaning into those intense hues that sometimes scare me. Trying to trust what happens when I stop playing it safe.
