Totem IV

Part of the Inner Worlds exhibition at Seventh Circle, Totem IV continues an evolving series of paintings exploring emotional movement, repetition and psychological space.

Within the Totem series, repeated faces and stacked compositions create subtle shifts in expression, tension and presence across the canvas. Originally rooted in portraiture, the work gradually moved towards something more unstable and internal, where emotional states became more important than fixed likeness.

Created in Birmingham in 2026, the painting forms part of the wider Totem series by Emma Woolley.
